Carol Block is the Director of the Pediatric Resources Division. She is a long time resident of Santa Clara County. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado and later received a Master’s Degree in Education from Santa Clara University. Carol continues to be active at Santa Clara University as an adjunct lecturer for the Early Childhood Education Program. She also had the privilege of being an adjunct lecturer at Rocky Mountain University for three years in their pediatric program. Carol worked for the first seven years of her career in adult rehabilitation at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She then went to California Children’s Services where she both treated and supervised. Carol moved on to Good Samaritan Hospital and worked in the pediatric programs there. Following that, she designed and owned a private therapy practice named Pediatric Interventions Inc. (PII), which became one of the largest in the Bay Area. The practice supported therapists as they worked in schools, hospitals, clinics and homes. After fifteen years of running her own private company, PII merged with Discharge Resource Group (DRG) to form Pediatric Resources. Program InformationCarol was proud to join with DRG to become the Director of Pediatric Resources in September of 2008. The staff is diversified both in degrees and in cultures, giving us a strong multidisciplinary approach to our department. We have five physical therapists, two occupational therapists, one speech therapist and four early interventionists. There are four divisions to this program and staff may work in one or more of the different divisions. Our hospital staff is well trained in feeding, movement assessment and infant/child behaviors. We provide long term placement of pediatric therapy staff for the Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, outpatient clinics and follow up programs in Bay Area hospitals. Our outpatient clinic provides physical, occupational and speech therapy services individually to children from birth to eight years of age. The clinic is a “fee for service” clinic. We provide billing information to parents so that they can get reimbursement from their individual medical insurance plans. We are an authorized vendor of San Andreas Regional Center to provide Early Start treatment to children at risk for development. At this time, we service over 70 families in the South Bay. Our staff sees the children in their homes, in our clinic and in natural environments such as daycares and parks. The children are seen from birth to three years of age. We are also available to contract in other private or non-profit programs for children upon request. Our goal is to assist you in providing quality care for children in your programs. Our flexibility allows us to accommodate your requests and meet your needs. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any services that we can provide for you.
